The Mark began in 2013 as a business plan competition for students at the International University of Monaco (IUM); orchestrated by Annalisa Tarquini (Director of Luxury Management at IUM), Marika Taishoff (Director of MBA at IUM) and Eric Althaus (Althaus Yachting), with a passion to create an opportunity for students to be innovative in the art and business of luxury and premium services. The event was a great success, and this year the organizers have elevated the competition to be open to all students of the French-based INSEEC group and other invited international universities. This expansion has increased the awareness of IUM as being a hub for producing future leaders of the luxury industry. With such rapid growth, The Mark offers sponsors the ability to grow exponentially again each year — since the competition will be open to students from every corner of the globe.
